The middle way is not something one practices IMO.
It's something one arrives at after living a life of extremes.
Like Buddha - he was a pampered prince who became an ascetic who then
realised the middle way.
Another example that comes to mind is the author of "The Power of Now"
who only woke up after really wanting to kill himself - extreme.

Anyway, I've been finally noticing some extremes of my life start to balance
or swing less, and feeling alive and peaceful as a result.
I didn't make efforts to avoid or control these extremes - I indulged them. :D

This is also what worked miracles for me :D

Kind of remotely reminds me of what Oscar Wilde said about temptation...

Wisely spoken, Brother :)

The middle way is the only way to success.

The transmutation to gold will not happen, when there is no brigde
between the two pathes of alchemy. Only sun and moon produce the
heavenly child

Blake put it thus: "The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom"

I indulged them.

I do the same for better or worse. Can be anything from celibacy to orgies, extreme poverty to extreme luxury, or sadness/happiness. In all cases, and more, neither - in retrospect - is preferred.
