The measurement problem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Measurement_problem) is that an atom appears in an particular place if you measure it. In other words, an atom is spread out all over the place until a conscious observer decides to look at it.

Then you have, according to Rupert Sheldrake, the Morphogenetic field (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morphic_field#Morphogenetic_field), which are the subset of morphic fields which influence, and are influenced by living things. The fact that memory lies in the collective past, and we tune in when we want to remember, and that amnesia is a failure to tune in - so to speak.

Carl Jung:

My thesis then, is as follows: in addition to our immediate consciousness, which is of a thoroughly personal nature and which we believe to be the only empirical psyche (even if we tack on the personal unconscious as an appendix), there exists a second psychic system of a collective, universal, and impersonal nature which is identical in all individuals. This collective unconscious does not develop individually but is inherited. It consists of pre-existent forms, the archetypes, which can only become conscious secondarily and which give definite form to certain psychic contents.

In an interesting article by David Bohm called The Implicate Order (http://www.bizcharts.com/stoa_del_sol/plenum/plenum_3.html) it says:

The theory of the Implicate Order contains an ultraholistic cosmic view; it connects everything with everything else. In principle, any individual element could reveal "detailed information about every other element in the universe." The central underlying theme of Bohm's theory is the "unbroken wholeness of the totality of existence as an undivided flowing movement without borders."

Swedenborg talked about reality’s holographic qualities and that all humans may seem separate but are in fact in a cosmic unity. The visible reality that we see every day is only a wave-substance. (more in thread: Holographic Universe (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?t=111))

Then of course we get into all this frequency business... I just think there is a nice synergy going on of different fields of thinking - that normally don't meet.

It is all above and below, without and within!

If alchemy led to science, then at the shift (in 2012), science will lead us to alchemy!

Whether you believe in a God, or in yourself… or in the ecological force of the Gaian Mind, I am sure you still have, at some point in your life, felt that someone was watching you, or at the very least keeping a close, or occasional, eye on you.

The sense that you are not alone, even if you are alone in the physical sense, cannot be ignored and that whatever it is that is watching you is there – either deep within your mind or above you in the æther.

To give an example I am sure you have at some point felt someone looking at you, or that you looked at someone and that they then turned around. Well what I am speaking about, this Watcher – if you will – acts in the same manner.

In a work by Al-Kindi (c. 801 – 873 CE) called De radiis stellarum he writes that
“everything in this world, whether it be substance or accident, produces rays in its own manner like a star… Everything that has actual existence in the world of the elements emits rays in every direction, which fill the whole world.”

David C. Lindberg continues to explain in his book Theories of Vision from Al-kindi to Kepler that
“this radiation binds the world into a vast network in which everything acts upon everything else to produce natural effects. Stars act upon the terrestrial world; magnets, fire, sound, and colors act on objects in their vicinity. Even words conceived by the mind can radiate power and thus produce effects outside the mind.”

Some people, or even most, name this feeling God. Others call is the subconscious, and it especially rears its head when you have done something you know is wrong and although no one knows, or saw, you do it… IT knows.

It saw and you will have to answer to it at some point further on – in heaven or hell or whatever entails, or whatever you believe (feel).

It could also be argued that this Watcher is nothing more than our own moral views buried deep within us, but that does not account for sensing this THING when one is doing nothing wrong, nothing immoral. It is because this has nothing to do with guilt, since we are all guilty we are, kind of, all innocent.

Rupert Sheldrake explains that
“through morphic resonance, the patterns of activity in self-organizing systems are influenced by similar patterns in the past, giving each species and each kind of self-organizing system a collective memory… the morphic fields of social groups connect together members of the group even when they are many miles apart, and provide channels of communication through which organisms can stay in touch at a distance. They help provide an explanation for telepathy. There is now good evidence that many species of animals are telepathic, and telepathy seems to be a normal means of animal communication… Telepathy is normal not paranormal, natural not supernatural, and is also common between people, especially people who know each other well.

In the modern world, the commonest kind of human telepathy occurs in connection with telephone calls. More than 80% of the population say they have thought of someone for no apparent reason, who then called; or that they have known who was calling before picking up the phone in a way that seems telepathic.”

This brings to mind the notion of Carl Jung’s collective unconscious
“which does not derive from personal experience and is not a personal acquisition but is inborn.” Or what the theosophists calls the Akashic Records.

If we assume that there indeed is a morphic resonance happening, and that it is through this that we evolve then we must also assume that we add to it. That we resonate further, so to speak, for coming generations. We are, in a sense, in a dialogue with the past, the present and the future. Such a spiritual occurrence must generate some form of physical presence in our brains. Perhaps this is that Watcher?

Vocatus atque non vocatus, Deus aderit.*

* Latin for Called or uncalled, God is present as found in the writings of Desiderius Erasmus (c. 1466 – 1536) who acknowledged that it had been an ancient Spartan proverb.

I wrote to Sheldrake the following question:

If we assume that there indeed is a morphic resonance happening, and that it is through this that we evolve then we must also assume that we add to it. That we resonate further, so to speak, for coming generations. We are, in a sense, in a dialogue with the past, the present and the future.

This is the reply:

Yes, it is evolving and being added too. Thank you for your interest in this pioneering research.

I also sent him my experience with mobile phone and text message telepathy. If any of you have had this please write him and add to the database...

From time to time Rupert Sheldrake needs information from the public to assist in his research. To do this CLICK (http://www.sheldrake.org/Research/information/)

Some more...

Dear [name],

Thanks for your interesting comments. Yes, it would be interesting to know whether it’s possible to feel a resonant connection with the future. I think some forms of precognition or presentiment might possibly explained this way.

meanwhile do have a go at my new audio precognition test

http://www.sheldrake.org/experiments/precog/

Thanks too for your observations on receiving text messages and phone calls. This too could be precognitive, or telepathic.

Best wishes
Rupert
