I understand that this is a bad time for criticism, with Dev putting however
much money into trying to get this forum back in shape, but...

the search engine on this site seems to me to be entirely useless.
It either gives no results for items I know exists here, or it gives dozens
of completely unrelated results. It never once, in my memory, narrowed
in on precisely what I searched for.

With so many threads now spanning such a length of time, it would be
nice to have a good search engine. But the plus side is, I'm having to
search through pages the old topics and it's nice to see what we were
working on back then, what was accurate/insight, how far we've come, etc.

For example, there is an interesting thread on diatoms by Aleilius and
a dialogue with White Lightning that seems pretty pertinent to my
present studies. And i wrote a topic called "sand" a year ago and it took
this time for me to understand what I was posting and only sensing intuitively. :p

Anyway, if the search engine can be upgraded at some point, great. If not,
that's ok.
