This is a Phoenix-thread (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?t=7) from the old site (http://alchemy-forums.forumotion.com/forum.htm).
So Easter is coming, and let's forget all about Jesus, Bunnies and Witches (kids dress up as witches here in Sweden during this holy day)!
Instead there is something Phoenix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_%28mythology%29)-like about Easter. It is all about death and re-birth in my opinion.
Although I have resigned from all traditions and holy days I am thinking about reforming Easter into a Plutonian Phoenixian Feast!

The Phoenix indeed!
Ostara is the pagan celebration of the resurrection of the GodMan out of the Underworld and into a newly awakened, spiritually ascended Son of God.
Osiris being my favorite resurrection story.
Thats an interesting bit about children dressing as witches for Easter in Sweden. Can you share any more details on why?
I like the idea of a reformation of Easter and would like to participate. Though this post is far past Easter, Ill keep this in mind for next.
For this last easter, my family and I had celebrated, but for the solar aspects rather than modern religious practices. Easter is the day of the year the duration of day becomes longer than the duration of night.
I like the idea of celebrating rebirth and resurection with the symbol of the phoenix with the sun. Thats a very cool image you posted.
Sorry for being so lazy but this webpage explains all: Traditions around Easter... (http://www.luth.se/luth/present/sweden/history/folklore/easter.html)
Blåkulla (The Brocken), that is mentioned in the text, is an island on the east coast of Sweden which I have lived on for two summers. It's very cool.
Thats very interesting, thank you for the link. Also very cool, living on an island with such traditions.
