This is a Phoenix-thread (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?t=7) from the old site (http://alchemy-forums.forumotion.com/forum.htm).

Hey all!

Please post your common cold cures!

The only rule is that they have to be home made (and not some Big Pharma drug)!

Copius water...

Intentional pranic breathing...
Garlic, ginger, honey, lemon made up into an infusion.......drink lots...

Yes....that is a really good mix!!!!
Ah yes, I'll have to dig into the herbal medicine books I have laying around. I'll post some recipes when I get the time.

peppermint tea and elderflower tea.
I've found elderflower syrup in a german store and I
add that to the peppermint tea.
These will cause a nice sweat if you rest and stay covered up.

Several years ago I got a light and sound brainwave entrainment device. It sends light flashes and sound pulses that cause your brain to produce more of the transmitted frequencies. At first I used it with both light an sound but later on I only used sound. This way you can achieve states that require years of meditation in a short time.

Some months after I started using it, I noticed that my nostrils where always clear and open and also that the phenomena whereby one of your nostrils is dominant for some time, after which the dominance switches to the other nostril, became more pronounced. Since then I haven't had a cold anymore.

It also had other great effects on my memory and mental abilities among others.

This is supposedly the only patented common cold cure, interestingly made
with zinc acetate.

http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=5,095,035.PN.&OS=PN/5,095,035&RS=PN/5,095,035

It's odd, the MSDS doesn't make zinc acetate sound very safe.
But I'm going to try a bit ground up with some honey.
Maybe it has to do with the amount. If I recall, the lozenges have 22mgs of zinc acetate.
It's odd that the zinc brought to the plant kingdom should be harmful.
I guess it's the concentrated vinegar in the crystals.
Maybe it should be ingested with something alkali to balance.
Or maybe a zinc tincture can be extracted with alcohol and be as effective.

I found another method of preparing a tincture of zinc acetate. It's actually
for iron acetate, but I don't see why zinc can't be substituted.

Take 1 oz each of zinc sulfate and potassium acetate (another version uses
2 oz of the acetate to the zinc sulfate) and 2 lbs of rectified SV. Rub the
acetate and the sulfate together until they form a mass, dry the mass
with a moderate heat and then triturate it with the SV. Digest well sealed
agitating frequently, for seven days. Then let the impuirties subside and
decant the clear liquor.
It doesn't mention the dosage.

When you mix the two ingredients together, they switch forming the
acetate of zinc and potassium sulphate. Potassium sulphate is insoluble
in rectified SV whereas the acetate dissolves readily.

My dad always makes us "hot-totties" which is simply a shot-glass full of whiskey, with lemon juice and honey mixed in.

Me personally, i used to have sinus infections all the time, until i tried a little something... i took a piece of silver jewelry and dropped it into whatever i was drinking, so that tiny silver salts would get in the liquid, and thus into me. At the time i was sick, so i had a habit of drinking coke, due to the acid breaking it down quicker and in bigger amounts. (last few sips always tasted so metallic :D lol)

But yeah, that with some honey (if drinking water), and ive not been sick in 3 years since i done it. I dont do it all the time, havent done it since then, as im pretty sure once you get the salts in they dont leave. (or so ive heard, since they are a heavy metal, and silver being anti-bacterial... its like a one-time cure.) :)

Thats what i tell all my friends to do now when they get sick with something "dumb" like the cold or sinus.
Water + silver, let charge in sun, add honey, bottoms up = sickness out.
