Perhaps neither an entheogen or a spagyric, my Soror Mystica and I tried 100 mg of this substance yesterday. We split a 200 mg tablet. I took on an empty stomach. She took after a vegetable protein shake. Her's seemed to last longer. My own concern is that it is contraindicated for someone with mitral valve prolapse, which I have, but I did not feel anything resembling light-headedness from lack of cardiovascular circulation, or arrythmia. At any rate, I usually do not feel very grounded in my body unless I'm peaking on entheogens, but I did for several hours. Wide-awake, increased peripheral vision (like entheogens), NO tachicardia, teeth-clenching, nervousness, or restlessness. Calm wakefulness, almost like the period before one 'blows up' on MMDA. Should be GREAT for concentration - reading, experimenting, meditating!

Interesting, personally not comfortable with "lab-entheogens"... it is called Vigil in Germany... I guess that fits.

It just so happens, that my Lady made that film #1 in her Netflix cue! Thanks for responding! Very relevant! :)

Saturday night, 8/20/11 - watching the film 'Limitless.' The Lady is taking a bathroom break. Great film so far. I see the blue eyes getting bluer, like 'Dune,' from eating the 'spice,' and a reference to 'The Matrix.' I didn't know the film was in her cue, but thanks for suggesting it, 'cause I asked her based on your suggestion. OH! Movie is back on....

I discovered that Modafinil with 1 cup of fresh ground Starbuck's coffee causes me tachicardia that lasts for hours, even into sleep. Apparently, even a glass of strongly brewed ice tea causes some tachicardia, but Saturday, on Modafinil and ice tea, I sat in one spot with my laptop, and wrote and edited my book from 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM. I only ate a single slice of Ezekiel raisin bread with almond butter all day. Very productive. Yesterday, Sunday, I only had tea, so I think I'm weaned off of caffeine for today's experiment. I took 100 mg Modafinil at 6:00 am, it is now 6:49 am and I'm beginning to feel energized. Peristalsis picking up, time for an 'elimination.' Eyes are wide open. Today is the first day of school, and I will be escorting parents from auditorium registration to the registrar's office for registration all morning long. No counseling work today, but lots of social interaction and moving about. My Lady has been taking this substance every day, and she's not working, but stays glued to the computer all day. Later.

Hi Mark'

You got me curious, had to try it.

Took 100mg this morning about 4:30...went back to bed got up at 5.

Feel wide awake...
Was a little nauseous earlier, but very slight...
Did exercise...didn't notice any heightened performance...was perspiring more than usual but it might have been due to
temp more than anything else.
Meditated...that was different...much clearer vision...kept seeing open landscapes with shaggy animals \o/ no idea why.

Will I try it again? See no harm as of yet so may experiment further.

Noticed very high blood glucose level.

Was back to normal this morning.

Will have to try some controlled
monitoring of it to see if it is related.

I'm a little concerned when I take caffeine because of noticeable heartbeat, but even w/o, I can notice a slight pressure. My friend Robert took the 100 mg I gave him and hated it. He said, "I like to be mellow," and it felt "like cocaine" to him. The chest pressure seemed to him "like I was in a bar smoking cigarette after cigarette." The other friend - another teacher who just became a firefighter, has not reported back to me. He's in school to become a paramedic, and thought it would be helpful. Meanwhile, my Lady takes it like a One-a-day vitamin with only good things to say. I worked on my book for a couple of hours yesterday, and sat with the laptop today for even longer (but mostly played, didn't write). Do you do a regular glucose blood test?

Hmm. Sorry to hear that, it's quite a cross to bear. You would know best if the degree of sugar increase poses a serious risk. I took 100 mg this morning when I awakened at 6:30 am (half an hour later than I should, if I'm gonna exercise, but owing to a nap in the PM, I took 1 mg Melatonin & 100 mg 5-HTP to get to sleep and stay asleep). With no caffeine, I had a positive and wakeful mood by the time I left for work at 7:45 am, and NO tachicardia or sensation of pressure.

We're still waiting for the larger shipment to arrive. We had a slight disagreement this morning, my Lady and me, when I suggested some potential for addiction. Nothing injurious, more like the commonly accepted caffeine addiction. I feel that if it's not food, water, necessary medication, or supplements for preventative health; and if it feels good, there is an element of addiction (inordinate attachment). Probably the Buddhist prohibition against inebriants applies here.

Provigil (modafinil) is a medication that promotes wakefulness. It is thought to work by altering the natural chemicals (neurotransmitters) in the brain.
Provigil is used to treat excessive sleepiness caused by sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or shift work sleep disorder.Provigil is usually taken each morning to prevent daytime sleepiness, or 1 hour before the start of a work shift to treat work-time sleep disorders.
If you are taking Provigil to treat sleepiness caused by obstructive sleep apnea, you may also be treated with a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine.
