I thought of this last night and compared it to "Gandalf the Grey"
who later became Gandalf the White. I wonder if he made it to
Gandalf the Red?
I tried to think of some etymology of Gandalf. I know "Gan" is garden in hebrew,
as in Gan Eden. "Dalf" is reminescent of "dolf" or dolphin, our fish/mercury.
Or perhaps Garden of Delphi.
Here in America, we have a city named Philadelphia, "the city of brotherly love".
The ancient city of Delphi was said to be the navel of the world and contained
an omphalos, a sacred stone.
