Hello and thank you for allowing me to join. I am excited to learn all I can about alchemy (for now, my knowledge is very little). I've been interested in it for a while, and did a little bit of research, but there's just so much, I don't know where to start.. Once again, thank you for accepting me :)

Any suggested sources that I should read up on to get started?

Welcome!
Well, what are you drawn to? There are books on the history of alchemy, on lab alchemy,
on spiritual alchemy, and there are things that might not seem like alchemy now but
might in 10 years. :)

I'm really curious about the history of alchemy and I really want to learn about practicing it.

I am starting to stick to the conclusion that the history of alchemy began probably 10 000 years ago. For me the links between the Shamanic traditions of ancient people, cave art, entheogens, the Mysteries and the beginning of the hermetic tradition through to today can't be ignored. It is one great alchemical mass/mess.

After all alchemy is about transformation. So in a sense alchemy encompass all things transforming, all of nature... which is in a constant process of change.

What literature should I start with? I have the book of Aquarius, but I don't know how much of that is credible, and I would prefer text a bit older

Why not begin with an appetizer? http://www.amazon.com/Alchemists-Kitchen-Extraordinary-Potions-Curious/dp/0802715400/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320464337&sr=8-1 It's a terrific little gem of a book!
