So I have finally released my first album (DIY naturally) available on iTunes, Spotify and many other places on-line.

It might not be everyones cup of tea, but to paraphrase a fellow member here on the forums: it is what it is!

But if you like Sebadoh, Daniel Johnston, Beatles, Nirvana, Weezer, Mercury Rev, Radiohead, Velvet Underground and Lou Reed you might enjoy it (not that I am as good as those) ... anyway it is the kind of music that I listen to, although I don't try to imitate it.

Dylanesk

I think your music has a seed that will grow on the listener...

I hated Dylan performing his own work only to find myself loving his work performed by others (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_artists_who_have_covered_Bob_Dylan_songs).

I saw Dylan a couple of years ago at the Hops Farm Festival. It was packed and the crowd loved him.

What do I know?

Great compilation Dev...cant wait to see the video ;)

In the namelessarchive manifesto it says:

These days an Artist needs to make money in order to survive...but the marketplace is a dirty muddy pit and I am all dressed in white. How is it possible then to stay true to oneself without becoming corrupted? Is it even possible?

I think most recording artist compromise their music to start with to get a wider audience, but once fame is achieved they travel the road first intended.

One of Radio Heads biggest singles was Creep (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=GYz_F2zNAVE&NR=1) and yet in an interview lead vocalist Thom Yorke said he hates the track.

I think you would be hard pushed to find another Radio Head track (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIklhgI-m2s&NR=1&feature=endscreen) that is similar....needs must.

Ambitious. Very ambitious. I had a listen. A friend once said of Pat Metheny that whoever can sit down front of a microphone, and play the guitar is rather brave and courageous!

I also find the title cover unique.

Congratulations.

My favorite is don't be scared (http://namelessarchive.com/videos.html).

Could make for an great ending track for an indie movie... But at least with a stereo/double tracked guitar, a bit of percussion and obviously with an Irish Marching Band playing the Instrumental Motif... LOL :)

(can't help voicing the music producer side in me...)

Next time you 'happen' to be in my area, you're invited to my studio and we'll see what can be done :)

Although, hopefully, the studio, The LAB (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?1452-The-LAB) and some of us will eventually end up in the same area :p

This is pretty old now, but during the summer of 2013 I release another little album. This time it was even more DIY than the previous one. (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?3182-nameless-archive-1).. often when I come up with something I quickly record it on my iPhone... using it as a kind of dictaphone...

I have always liked rough recordings (demos, bootlegs etc)... sometimes it is called lo-fi, but the name doesn't really matter. I just thought I'd be cool to release songs that were recorded in the very moment they were created (sometimes even before they were finished), in other words the actual discovery of the song is caught on tape... which I like. So this is the end result of this experiment; unmastered, straight and exposed.

This one only exists as a download (no hard copy).

Ghislain: the riff for the Iboga song (http://namelessarchive.bandcamp.com/track/iboga) (especially the intro, but also lyrics) I wrote while coming down from the Iboga in Gabon... there was a guitar in the room we rested in (if you recall). In this case I recorded it on my iPhone when I got back home as I was in no state to do any recordings while ON the Iboga, but the music came through the experience and the opening riff I think I played over and over again for hours while floating through space. LOL! Maybe you can hear the HARP as a source of inspiration. ;)

Very Dylanesque.

I found myself humming it for quite a while after listening.

only listened to the Iboga song...still makes me shiver just mentioning Iboga.

I will listen to the others soon.

Musician here: my critical eye tells me not to like it but my heart tells me I do. :) Really this is what music is about; to feel and to express (not to follow what we're told music should be limited by and you've reminded me of this). It's quirky and I like it. ;)

This is the third release, and this one is focused on the ukulele.

That's right folks, no guitars on this album... although there are plenty of other instruments all led by the glorious ukulele. Enjoy!

All good art must have a sequel, right? ;) So this is a sequel to Phone (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?3766-nameless-archive-phone), and just like the first these are songs recorded on the fly, often in the very moment when the song was first composed, so in a sense the actual discovery of the song is caught on tape.

This one only exists as a download (no hard copy).

This is an electronic and instrumental album that has its focus on the rainbow, the rainbow body - which is a level of realization of someone else attaining complete knowledge - and rainbow serpents; which are considered to be the ultimate creator of everything in the universe.

This is an electronic and instrumental album that has its focus on the journey of life and death told through the symbolism of ancient South American cultures... and ultimately showing that the illusion is truly real.
