Frogs are of a chthonic symbology as they are denizens of earth and water (one symbolism of water being "the abyss"). In the Biblical sense they are "unclean", and iconoclastic to God's law.

Revelation 16:13 And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs.

Exodus 8:2-14 But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will plague all your country with frogs. The Nile shall swarm with frogs that shall come up into your house and into your bedroom and on your bed and into the houses of your servants and your people, and into your ovens and your kneading bowls. The frogs shall come up on you and on your people and on all your servants.”’” And the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the canals and over the pools, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt!’” So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. ...

Psalm 105:30 Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings.

Exodus 8:13-14 And the Lord did according to the word of Moses. The frogs died out in the houses, the courtyards, and the fields. And they gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.

I can understand why they would be a symbol of fertility, as they are absolutely earthbound creatures - chthonic progeny suites them perfectly. Metamorphosis I can also see, as they are amphibious creatures - their very existence bridges the worlds of water and land - I would still argue though, that their "metamorphosis" symbology, like their fertility symbology, still should be viewed as completely of a material nature.

I am not sure about the latter two lines - what comes to mind when I read "Its voice calls forth the rain" is that in Mega Man IV on the original Nintendo Toadman's special attack was to make it rain, thus, I would reckon that in the East Asian mythos the frog/toad probably has something to do with bringing rains.

I somewhat disagree. As tadpole, frog is bound to water. After his metamorphosis into adult, he can choose freely. Were his essential nature unchanged, that is if his metamorphosis was only material, he would as an adult remain bound to water.

"Bringing forth the rain" has to do with frog's ability to cleanse an environment of emotional negativity. Emotions are associated with the element of water. So is the astral plane, therfor frog also has the ability to change from solid to liquid, I.e. hop to and fro between physical and astral (another reason his metamorphosis is more than material).

In alchemy, toad is one symbol for putrefaction. And I think of other processes too.

Also, I love that game :)

Here is a good use for a frog.

A test used to be performed on the female African clawed frog. After being injected with a female's urine, if
the frog produced eggs within 24 hours, the woman was pregnant. No killing, and yet accurate. This saved time, and
even meant that frogs could be reused. The ‘Frog Test’ was the world’s first cheap and reliable pregnancy test and
became the international standard for decades. At the end of the 1950′s it was finally supplanted by technology
which went on to produce the pregnancy tests we all know today.

Frogs into Princes is based on an early introductory seminar by Richard Bandler and John Grinder.
Written in 1979, it was one of their first books and is a useful classic 30 odd years later.Free PDF Read/Download Link (http://www.nlpinfocentre.com/nlpebooks/NLP%20-%20Bandler%2C%20Richard%20%26%20Grinder%2C%20John% 20-%20Frogs%20into%20Princes%20-%20Neuro%20Linguistic%20Programming.pdf)
