For some reason I was drawn to contemplate the title "Splendor Solis",
thinking/intuiting that there might be a clue.
So with words I usually look them up in the etymology site.
What I found was interesting:

Splendor simply means brilliance or bright and shining.
But as you can see from the page, Zohar also means light, splendor.
The page also tells us that the adjective "neat" comes from nitere which means "to shine".

There's a lot of "shining" going on in alchemy, don't you think?

What shines? Things that are new; things that are clean; light; a joyful countenance...

Your posting reminded me of German pharmacist, who also dabbled in alchemy, Hennig Brandt. After distilling supposedly hundreds of liters of urine, collected from boys, he arrived at a white substance. It glowed-in-the-dark! He named it "phosphorus", asserting that it was First Matter.

I agree. And though SolX's evidence is not conclusive proof at this time for us,
it is something to consider. I was going in this direction when i had to leave my
practical lab stuff behind for a time.

The carbuncle is another option/path that creates a glowing substance.
That too is posted somewhere in this forum.

Then there could easily be spiritual alchemy interpretations on this as well.

It's probably a marker of sort, First Matter captured. I've read that Brandt sure was convinced! I'm more aligned with this sort of a phenomena than just blindly venturing after yet another 'recipe'. I wouldn't mind transferring my consciousness into the substance, and having an experience with it.

Thanks Solomon Levi.

"But my face you cannot see, for no human being can see me and survive." - Exodus 33:20
"Now, Father, glorify me with that glory I had with you before ever the world existed." - John 17:5

This is a significant relation... too much light means no existence/survival.
Too much stone will kill a man with fire.
Love must be given in homeopathic doses, or people freak out.
Sometimes it's painful to contain the light/love that I am.
Ultimately, it will destroy me.
