For some reason I thought we had talked about this... or at least placed a link... now I am not so sure... anyways...

In my humble opinion there is no one else like Stanley Kubrick (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Kubrick), at least not when it comes to making a film!

Here is an interesting article that you might, or might not, have come across before:

Alchemical Kubrick 2001: The Great Work on Film (http://www.jayweidner.com/kubrick.htm)

The Emerald Tablet doing a house-call perhaps?

I like the movie, but I don't feel it is alchemical...at least not in the same way that I feel Dante's Inferno, Gulliver's Travels, or Faust is. But it is a great movie nonetheless.

I like the movie, but I don't feel it is alchemical...Well from a spiritual perspective I feel it is highly alchemical, and if not that then it is esoteric for sure.

Gullivers Travels is one of my all time favourite books, it has a section that is pure alchemy - but mainly I see it as a political book.

For me the Black Monolith of 2001 fits the lore of the ancient Emerald Tablet that was brought to modern man by the Atlanteans! Now if this is a fact or pure legend dosen't really matter to me... it is the concept of it that attracts me.

Oh yes 2001 is definitely esoteric! But with Gulliver's Travels I feel that it is alchemical in the same way that the Odyssey is alchemical. Only with Gulliver you get a really brilliant lesson in cant...the same way that you do (in French) with Rabelais. For instance, the name Lemuel Gulliver is (to me) indicative of saying "The Mule" which correlates to many cabalistic notions.

Alchemy in Stanley Kubrick’s Films

Jay Weidner has made several videos on the subject as well as interviews with the usual channels, Noory's Coast to Coast AM, Northern Europe's Red Ice Radio, Streiber's Dreamland.

I believe Kubrick intended to insert alchemical symbols and occult ritualistic images in his movies. Fascinating character, that is to be sure.

Thanks.
