View Full Version : History of Alchemy Forums

Alchemy Forums was discussed between myself, and Aleilius (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/member.php?3-Aleilius). It began on Occult Forums (which is now defunct). There is a debate on who thought up the idea. It doesn't really matter. The idea thought itself up... I take no credit for it. I don't mind who gets the credit, if it is Aleilius or myself or both or none... for me it was not the reason I wanted a place like this (nor do I think it was his reason). The reason was always to have a place where I/we could discuss alchemy and life with other people that shared our interests.

Anyway I was more into the spiritual side and Aleilius more into the practical aspects. So it was a good start. I purchased the domain and set up the forum on a free forum site with ads. I remember the night when I alone sat and set everything up, decided the different sections and made the first few posts. Then when it was going, with the help of Aleilius (and others), we proceeded to make it into what it eventually is today.

Over time people turned up, some were invited others came here through google and elsewhere.

We wanted a "real" board, not a crappy ads-infected forum so when it was apparent that there was a need for a forum like this one we upgraded and here we are.

During the move we had discussed ways to migrate all the old threads/posts from the ads-infected board to the current board, but this wasn't possible. So Phoenix threads were created... See: http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?7-What-are-Phoenix-threads

As time went on more and more people joined and eventually the current moderator team came into being. There were some troubled times also but nothing we should focus on, such things come and go.

Aleilius is no longer with us (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?4550-RIP-Aleilius). At the moment I carry the torch and when the time comes I'll pass the torch on to someone else.
