Just watched Adrogynus’ video link in post 7 in the polled thread Racism and Homophobia ban ( http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?3637-Racism-and-Homophobia-ban)

I feel the viewer is supposed to get some revelation about how we unknowingly bias our behaviour
toward different groups. The thing is, deep down, we all know this but we are too weak, scared or lazy
to change. it.

I watch a prog from the US called Extreme Makeover. It consists of taking a person with less than
blessed looks and build, performing a shed load of cosmetic surgery, body building exercises, new
wardrobe and then presenting them back to their respective friends and family.

Try as I might not to, I still find myself respecting the "after" much more than the "before"...they are still
the same person. I like to think I am unbiased, but this proves otherwise.

It all boils down to ignorance...I don’t know the people in the prog above and so I judge them on
their looks.

Bigotry comes from a mixture of fear and ignorance...

Education, socialising and openness may be the cure. Without these we rely on our instinct of flight or fight.
