Very cool, but I still think a traditional fireplace is lacking if I am going to be picky. Nothing like real fire.

Yes, I saw this some years back, great, good fun!

The only troubling aspect is the so-called "pelican". If you studied and owned one, the one he has must've been made by modern amateur. That's not pelican! True to the Art, the connecting arms link the top and bottom sphere together, plus the bottom sphere is much bigger, more than twice bigger than the top. Take a look at old drawings. (If I ever figure out again how to post, I would be happy to show photos of my big pelican made by a professional.)

One would think that such detail doesn't matter as much, but the perfect circulation depends on continuous flow. That wouldn't be the case in one shown that has arms connected to the necks. In other words, "expansion" of circulation occurs in the spheres. That's the purpose of pelican glassware.

He should have also talked about those jars with the alchemical symbols on them and what he had in them/used them for. Dennis is a member here so maybe someone should PM him and ask for further explanations... ;)
