In pages 147 to 149 of this book, a process of making a special kind of Aqua Regia is described by distilling together sal ammoniak and saltpetre. From a chemical viewpoint, this makes no sense to me, but I believe that a corrosive water that can dissolve gold really can be made out of this. This aqua regia probably dissolves gold differently than common AR. We had a discussion about it in the "Ammonium chloride and calx of gold" (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?3829-Ammonium-chloride-can-make-calx-of-gold&p=32726#post32726).
