I was looking for articles on the net to see if there were bad side effects of taking too much vitamin C.

On the page of one article there was a link to a site that suggested 10 top anti-wrinkle creams.

Out of boredom I thought I would give it a glance...lol are people really buying this stuff?

Below is a list of these creams and the price they charge for them:

#1 - LifeCell Anti-Aging Cream ( http://www.skincaresearch.com/lifecell/) - $189 per 75.1ml

#2 - La Prairie Cellular Cream (http://www.skincaresearch.com/la-prairie-cellular-cream-platinum/) - $650 per ounce <- Whaaat!

#3 - StriVectin Wrinkle Serum (http://www.skincaresearch.com/deep-wrinkle-serum/) $153 per 0.9 ounces

#4 - Skinceuticals CE Ferulic (http://www.skincaresearch.com/skinceuticals-ce-ferulic/) - $153.00 per 30 ml

#5 - Crème De La Mer (http://www.skincaresearch.com/creme-de-la-mer/) - $130 per ounce.

#6 - Freeze 24-7 Anti-Wrinkle (http://www.skincaresearch.com/anti-wrinkle-cream/) $125 per ounce

#7 - Estee Lauder Perfectionist (http://www.skincaresearch.com/wrinkle-lifting-serum/) $80 per 1.7 ounces

#8 - Olay Regenerist (http://www.skincaresearch.com/olay-pro-x-deep-wrinkle-treatment/) $20.00 per 50ml

#9 - Clinique Repairwear (http://www.skincaresearch.com/clinique-corrector/) $44.50 per ounce

#10 - Meaningful Beauty (http://www.skincaresearch.com/meaningful-beauty-by-cindy-crawford/) - $39.95 pre ounce

[note: many of these companies claim they don't know exactly why they work]

The top one offered a free trial...this grabbed my curiosity even further, they want to give away a $189 product for free? What's the catch?
You're not allowed to see the catch untill you give them lots of info about yourself...so I made some up and got to the terms and conditions page.

Once you get there a window pops up and an agent named Judi asks if you have any questions...

So I posted one with extracts from their terms and conditions...see below:

Why is all the information below not on the first page, it would save me having to put all my details in.

$12.50 USD (reduced today from $32.95 USD.) ? At the price below shipping should be free.

$149 USD for a fresh supply of LifeCell every 60 days at the discounted price; normally $189.00 USD

$2.00 USD Environmentally Friendly charge? If a company wishes to give this sort of donation they can feel free to do so; I don't so we can
add that to the price, $152 USD discounted price, normally $191 USD

Replenishment Service items are under a 15 Day Money Back Guarantee. Item must be sent back unopened and in its original packaging within
15 days of delivery in order to receive credit. Why would someone want to send the product back unopened? don't you need to open it to try it?

[note: you incur the return postage charge]

As for the "before and after" pictures...funny how they are never in the same setting or light. Any photographer can take years off a person given
the correct lighting and make-up.

Are people really gullible enough to buy this product?

I'm going to make one, there is a fortune to be had!

Buy NEW*LIFTCON, the cosmetic face lift!
Now at the discounted price of $148 USD.
Cheaper than other products on the market!
Buy now to avoid the environmental charge!
No surgery needed except for the removal of the money from your bank account!

I'll make it out of fresh mayonnaise and claim it's made from all natural ingredients. (+preservatives)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'm going to be a millionaire!!!!!

Would you like to be the first customer? I have no "before and after" photo's or testimonials yet,
but I have a big family so it shouldn't take more than a couple of days to put something together.

Now you may think they wouldn't answer that, rather long-winded, question, but they did.

Judi: We don't put mayonnaise in our products.
Me: Well there you go then...mine will be unique.

Judi didn't place an order :(

It just goes to show that the puffers are still out there selling the snake oil. Click on the links then scroll down to the ingredients...it's interesting.

IMO the answer is no.

Also best anti-wrinkle cure is to not use alcohol.

You can overdose on vitamin c but not in the typical way most people think of. Most of it just leaves your body if you take too much but if you continually ingest large amounts of it for a period of more than 10 hours it will make your body too acidic. I've done it before myself a while back, it just makes you feel a bit ill. You can avoid this by not taking it so often or by consuming a more alkaline diet.

Anti aging creams are so overpriced. But if anyone did have interest in a more scientific route I would suggest some na pca or hyaluronic acid. Both are great for moisturizing the skin. Typically in some cases can be found together as a spray for vastly less than some of the creams listed.

So Lunsola do you think a little mayonnaise containing sodium pyroglutamate and
some hyaluronic acid would make a good skin cream?

I can see the millions already :) $$$$$

I wonder if it can make you younger...half way there!

Perhaps if you rub it into some lead...who knows

The mysteries of wrinkle cream I know nothing. I even thought it was Oil of Clay my wife used and wondered what kind of clay they made that out of.

Vitamin C is a different matter. I take 14 grams a day of Vit C to get rid of and keep gone chronically swollen glands. 2 grams a day got rid of a resistant UTI and kept it gone. The same prevented frequent strep throats.

Linus Pauling when asked how much Vitamin C he took and how he decided. He said that he "kept increasing dose until he stopped getting sick."

I guess it would be okay. I'm not too fond of mayo, there are far better things to use IMO. Na pca & hyaluronic acid won't restore anyone's youth by any means but it can help preserve what youth remains. Starting earlier is better but it still doesn't compare to successful lab work. It's just one of those things someone can use in addition if they like. Just as I eat a healthy diet or use conditioner on my hair. Personally I use the combo because it's only $13 a bottle and works as a great moisturizer as well. Spirit/lab work doesn't solve all problems, people still have to take care of themselves.
