This is just a simple calcination process of a plant using a clay enameled dish. I didn't use any sand bath or anything just placed it straight on the gas burner so it actually cracked the clay dish in half but it didnt break and I was still able to continue with the process and here is how it turned out:

I had a small amount of the grounded plant so the calcination didnt take to long about 25 mins..

Thees are just the first steps of the extraction of the herb salts and it just just a simple experiment using kitchen dishes. It still has processes to that needs to be done in order to complete the fully purified herb salt. So please do not consider it to be the safe and proper way unless you know what you are doing.
Thank you.

Do you have the other steps to post to finish the salt extraction?

Also, and more importantly to me, what are some good ways to calciNE the plants? Blow torch blows of all away, your method here tends to Crack and break everything, oven is way to slow and inefficent. Anyone have thoughts or pictureshows of their calcination methods?

Thanks, C.

Hey Psykopanther, no I don't actually have the process of dissolution, that's another process for purifying the salts from the impurities which it requires distilled water in order to kinda like wash the salts.
The thing with calcination is that you can use anything for the first trial till the plant starts to break down to ash, than its good to use a pyrex dish and continue with the next trial until the salts are whitened enough so you can move to the next level. For heating you can use anything that suits you the most just remember to take action somewhere outside for it will be allot of smoke wile burning.
