View Full Version : pH swing process

I never got this to work to give me a white powder of gold yet.
At best I got to brick red colored gold, somewhere past purple.
Has anyone found an easy reliable way to perform it?
I don't think titrating with NaOH is particularly fun.
I'm going to try and see if I can short cut the titrating by just working with NaHCO3, since bicarbonate can just be dumped in an acid solution and neutralizes it fast and easy up to pH 9 or so. It's a weaker base and might work.
pH swings should be fast and easy that way.

Hey Vlad.
Why should they be fast and easy?
Do you mean that would be convenient?
I'm sure you know that going fast or slow can make a
critical difference in the product. If you go too fast and
have localised areas of high pH, you can make something
that makes you sick instead of feeling good.
