The adventures of Edward Kelly (sometimes 'Kelley') and John Dee, I found, is the one truly hilarious compilation of alchemical literature.

Both Dee and Kelly are alchemists in the 16th century and are REAL HISTORICAL PEOPLE, but their personal interactions represent the mixing of the red powder with the white power of alchemy.

Kelly is a scoundrel, thief and grave-robber and Dee, on the other hand, is honest, upright, in the Court of royalty and is the Queen's astrologer. Dee and Kelly must work, secretly, together because each has a piece of the alchemical puzzle that the other does not! Bringing Kelly to the palace is like escorting a lion-on-a-short-leash into your hen-house.

The tales get really funny if one remembers that an alchemist believes that 'all is one and The One is everything'... So (alchemically thinking), Kelly the scoundrel and Dee the aristocrat are two parts (% can vary) of 'one person' (an alchemical 'mix').
Of course the accounts are written by writers who were alchemists or familiar with alchemy so there is a great deal written between the words.

Shakespeare, I believe, could turn the adventures of Dee and Kelly into another great comedic masterpiece.

I found more alchemical information 'behind the words' (as well as between). It seems that the entire summary (all writers) of the accounts of John Dee and Edward Kelly put an alchemical experiment (mixing of red and white powders) into an alchemical allegory that is historically true! Mind boggling!

If alchemy has an 'All Time Hits List" then 'John Dee and Edward Kelly' deserve a spot near the top.

Poor Dee and Kelly !

Dee, because all it's papers in it's house will be burned by ignorant country mans, one of the richest library of Europe at the time ... and Kelly (or Talbot) will die in it's escape from a tower, where he was kept prisoner in "Purglitz", to make the Stone for a powerful man, the Emepror Rodolphe II of the Saint Empire, how loved very much gold, but unfortunately, Kelly didn't know how to do it, he just bought a piece of Stone, red and white one day, and made different transmutation in public, in order to be introduced to the royalty etc ... a wrong idea.

The both worked on Henokian, Enochian, magic, a quite complex system, with many inter related levels ... they received it by Archangels and Angels, by scrying an obsidian mirror. They had the Sigillum Dei Aemeth, the tower vision, the 49 bonum angeli, the table of Nalvage, the big table of for direction, the planetary tables etc and a special alphabet for angelic language.

Yes there is alchemy in all this, but to put all this in order to concretely work ... good luck, you need years ! And not doing like Golden Dawn or Aurum Solis that transformed this system with no deep researches.

I just got this book in the mail today:

Most of the concepts in this book is something I am already familiar with, still there is nothing like holding and reading a real book... downloaded pdf's will never replace that feeling... not anytime soon anyway!

From the perspective of the 'spiritual alchemist', and incorporating all of the information in the posts (this thread) so far, I believe that there is a great lesson to be had from Dee and Kelly.

Dee went from "The Above", where he was 'in service to the Monarch' and continually being rewarded for his service, ------ to "The Below" where he was finally reduced to 'ash'. Including a change in Monarch which reflected the deteriorating condition of Dee's circumstances.

So? What was the condition or circumstance or activity that caused Dee to 'descend' out of "The Above" and crash land in "The Below"?

I have a theory. Dee's 'fall' from "The Above" was because he redirected himself (substituted) from 'service to the Monarch' to 'self-service'. Dee failed to 'sublimate' Kelly and, instead, became consumed by what Kelly represents, as a symbol(s).

One theory is that they got some of the meteorite stone from the Kaaba (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/showthread.php?t=40) in Mecca, and used this as the Prima Materia to make gold... another that the Devil's Column in Prague - where they hung out - also contained this space dust, as did the rest of Prauge being the site of a crash.

Devil's Column

Do find areas such as below interesting:

All the Enochian stuff is such a head-scratcher though, at times...

I ha ve been studying this system of magic which is extremely complex, yes. Perhaps for the times, all of this was necessary oweing to the consciousness of where people were at then. I don't think it necessary now, although if you summon spirits, you better know who you're dealing with and how to protect yourself. Still, I am able to communicate with many beings. If I understand correctly, you can contact some amazing beings and get some very helpful knowledge and assistance. Perhaps we should seek this out rather all the conjecture and heresay that we mortals seem to be so lost in.
