Since it's pop-culture I place it here rather than Astrologia (http://forum.alchemyforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46)...

Known about this for some time. It's a film about, to paraphrase Wikipedia, a global cataclysm occuring which leads to the end of the world and has survivors struggling for their lives, while a US government agency called the Institute for Human Continuity attempts to use ships to ensure the survival of the human race.

The film is inspired by several hypotheses that state that the ancient Mayan predicted a doomsday event will occur sometime around the 2012 northern hemisphere winter solstice. - source (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_(film))

Roland Emmerich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Emmerich) is not one of the best directors out there so I doubt that this film will be any good on an esoteric level... on an FX/CGI level it might be top of the line, but effects is not the most important when it comes to this artform IMO!

You can be sure that this is the insidious christo-fundy attempt to frame 2012 as their own apocalypse, where they get to be heroes and tell us all what's what. Make me puke.

Not that I was too surprised but this film was crap... some nice effects but that is about it. A lot of Christianity in it I think, funny since they talk about Mayan stuff... Holy Wood morons... the film was also filled with sickening patriotism!

Spot on!
