    The Golden Rain Experiment

Note: the materials needed to carry out this experiment are readily available in nature and have been available for thousands of years.

Are you implying that sometimes when alchemist see proof of gold it is basically just glitter?

Donít let the delusion of reality confuse you regarding the reality of the illusion.

Yes the Golden Rain experiment is a bit of a visual curiosity that's gained a reputation amoung american science classrooms I believe, it displays an incredible quality of lead iodide to exhibit a brilliance that resembles that of gold.

Someone on the internet re-performed the experiment using cruder materials that would have been available to the ancients, and in fact was successful in recreating lead iodide sparkles using vinegar and seaweed ashes

Edit: wow I just checked on YouTube and there are heaps of recreations!

But all that is golden, glitters & resists cupellation & parting is. Plus in this case the alchemist would not even need any relatively complex tests: a simple crucible and a furnace/forge would have easily shown the deception. Also, an even simpler hammer & anvil would have served the same purpose.

Nothing a good puffer couldn't cope with back in the day.
