    Best Browser(s) for Alchemy Searches

    hey friends,
Google is known to censor free information.
This has changed big time since Covid, but even before they were doing it.

Do they restrict access to good alchemical searches or not?
I am not sure. I do seem to get good results, but I wonder if they're censoring there too.

I know searches on Flat earth just bring up all the "science" that makes Flat earth sound laughable. But before that, just a few years ago, the searches brought up the other side of actual flat earth arguments.
Same with alternative medicine, homeopathy, anti-vax...
it's one nice and tight big brother freedom, as long as you search for what they want you to search for.

    any better search engines?

    Check out
    Mojeek
    Searx
    Yandex
(There are many more but these are lesser known ones)

In addition to that understanding how to search is key. Using search filters, searching multiple engines and thinking of creative ways to search for the same thing with different keywords.

An example, many years ago now I was part of a research team looking for an old paper. In the team of about 6 others no one had been able to find it. I got the information we had available and instead of searching for the actual text or anything about the author I noticed that it was supposed to be published in a very old (1800s) journal, so I searched for the journal itself and ended up finding it much to the surprise of everyone else on the team. It really just came down to how I looked.

I agree - it is often being creative about your searches. For example, I have found many obscure texts that I couldn't find otherwise, just by entering a line, or part of a line from the text itself, which can sometimes be obtained from other texts that quote statements from the text. One also has to be careful on the spelling of various authors, as there might be a considerable number of different spellings. Raymond Lull is a perfect example (Ramon, Raymond, Raymundus, Lul, Llull, Lully, Lullus, etc.).

But there does seem to be censorship. I have found that some old books are available to download from Google for certain countries only, but restricted to other countries. It might have to do with how copyright restrictions are handled in each specific country.

You could use a VPN Illen, that's what I have done in the past with this issue. If that feels like a bit complicated just PM me and I can use mine for it.

Thanks for the offer, Philosophical. I can't think of any book at the moment, but might look into that in the future.
